YAY AIMEE SOBON! Aimee Sobon, associate principal at The Academy at Virginia Randolph, is today’s “Yay of the Day” honoree. Superintendent Amy Cashwell honored her recently at the school.
YAYWORTHY: Nominator LaToya Brown said: “Many times, our fearless leaders go unnoticed because the expectation is for them to lead. Well, I am here to say this administrator leads EVERY DAY with love and I want to give her some well-deserved flowers. She is a true pillar of support for students, staff and parents. Her love and dedication to our students is unmatched.
“I have seen her counsel students, purchase food and incentives for students out of her own pocket, and take off her administrator hat and take it back to the roots, teaching our students biology. At the height of the COVID-19 pandemic, we were short-staffed and did not have coverage for all of our classes. Ms. Sobon stepped right in and served as the teacher for biology, geometry and the Algebra Functions and Data Analysis class. “Since she loves everything science, I’ll use an appropriate metaphor: I hear people say that school counselors are the “heartbeat” of the school. Well, Aimee Sobon is the school’s “nervous system”! She plays a role in nearly every aspect of our day-to-day operations. We would not function without her. In education, we need leaders that go above and beyond and this indispensable leader is all in! Thank you for your exceptional leadership. You are appreciated.”
Thank you for all you do, Aimee Sobon, to make a positive difference and move HCPS forward!
