YAY M'KAYLA MCBRIDE! M'Kayla McBride, a registrar at Ashe ES who was previously a permanent sub at Varina HS, is today's "Yay of the Day" honoree! Superintendent Amy Cashwell honored her recently at Ashe.

"She is a graduate of Varina High School, she graduated from Ferrum University and came back to her high school to make a difference for future Varina graduates.
"She sewed a student's jacket that had a sleeve ripped so he would have a coat to wear during our cold winter. She found a needle and thread from another teacher and sat during a planning to sew the coat. This girl is awesome and one of the most caring young people I know."
