Nominator Zoe Raeder said:

"Mrs. Hammonds deserves a 'Yay of the Day' because she is always extending herself to all of her students to make sure they are all set up for success and are getting opportunities to better themselves and their education.

"She stepped up to be the director of Allied Health when the center did not have one, despite her already having a full teaching schedule. Since then, she has put in 150%, always standing in the hallway to talk with students, making herself available even after school hours for students and responding to them on her weekends and days off. In the first year of running the program, she discovered students were wanting more challenging work and curriculum beyond what was being taught in the classroom. Mrs. Hammonds went to meet with administrators, students, parents and county staff to see how she could create a more challenging environment, as well as one that connected content across multiple subjects and gave students more in depth assignments, even in her own classes. She has made a difference in my life and the students that she teaches at Hermitage! Everyone loves Mrs. Hammonds!"

Thank you for all you do, Sarah Hammonds, to make a positive difference and move HCPS forward!
