ACE Hermitage

Since its grand opening last January, the new ACE Center at Hermitage building has provided the space and resources for Henrico County Public Schools students in various Career and Technical Education disciplines to thrive. Now, a $25,000 donation from Kokosing will support the student-involved renovation of the second floor and fulfill the ultimate potential of the state-of-the-art facility.

Kokosing, one of the largest family-owned construction companies in the Midwest and Mid Atlantic, will present its gift in a gathering, featuring company leaders, HCPS representatives and Henrico CTE students, at the ACE Center at Hermitage Monday at 1 p.m.

“When we heard that students would be working alongside building trades professionals to outfit the space, we knew we wanted to be involved,” said Michael Higgins, Kokosing’s workforce development manager.

The project will convert 29,000 square feet into labs and instructional spaces for more than a dozen health care programs. With the urgent need for health care and trades workers, the new space will help HCPS get more students credentialed and experienced in both career paths.

The second floor was purposefully left unfinished to provide building trades students with the experience of working on a non-residential site.

The build will happen in two phases. Phase 1 begins in April 2025 to be completed by December 2025 (13,200 sq. ft.) Phase 2 launches in January 2026 to be completed by September 2026 (15,850 sq. ft.).
