Henrico Education Foundation Chief Executive Officer Damon Jiggetts will step down this spring to become president and CEO of Access College Foundation in Norfolk. His departure creates a new and exciting opportunity for HEF to welcome a leader who will build upon the foundation’s legacy of excellence and service to Henrico County Public Schools’ students, teachers and families.
Since joining HEF in July 2023, Jiggetts has collaborated with the foundation’s board of directors and staff to strengthen internal policies, enhance program operations and rebrand HEF initiatives to more accurately reflect their impact on individual classrooms, schools and the Henrico community.
“The board of directors deeply appreciates Damon’s leadership. His unwavering focus on our mission and dedication to cultivating relationships with donors and supporters of public education are commendable,” said HEF Board Chair Anne Poates. “Although we will miss him greatly, we wish Damon the very best as he works on behalf of students and families in Hampton Roads.”
To ensure a smooth leadership transition, Poates will serve as interim CEO while the board conducts a nationwide search for HEF’s next leader. A longtime advocate for public education, Poates is in her ninth year as an HEF Board member. She is also a veteran educator with nearly 40 years of instructional and administrative experience with Henrico County Public Schools.
According to Poates, students and families will continue to receive the same level of excellent service and support for which HEF is known.
“Our experienced and dedicated staff will continue delivering critical programs and services without disruption. HEF remains committed to its mission of providing resources and opportunities for Henrico County students and families.”
