"Mrs. Asay truly deserves the 'Yay of the Day' for her exceptional commitment to her students’ success. She goes above and beyond by keeping lines of communication open with both students and parents, ensuring that everyone feels informed and involved. Her ability to build strong relationships within her classroom creates a positive and inclusive environment where students feel safe to grow and learn. Through her caring approach, Mrs. Asay fosters mutual respect, trust and a genuine connection with her students, enabling them to thrive both academically and personally.
"In addition to her relational skills, Mrs. Asay’s careful planning and organization keep academic progress on track and positive. She is proactive in updating parents on their children’s progress, thoughtfully addressing any challenges that may arise. By keeping parents informed, she creates a valuable partnership that supports each student’s development. Her commitment to maintaining steady progress while adapting her teaching to meet individual needs makes her a standout educator, one who has a lasting impact on both her students and their families.
"A specific example of Mrs. Asay’s positive impact is her dedication to sharing encouraging updates about my child’s classroom experiences. Whether through a small note sent home or a quick message on ParentSquare, she makes the effort to reach out with something as simple as, 'I just wanted you to know that he shared this today and it led to a great discussion.' These thoughtful messages keep me connected to my child’s learning, giving me insight into his school day that I wouldn’t otherwise have.
"In an intermediate grade, where students are becoming more independent, this positivity means a lot. Mrs. Asay understands that older kids also benefit from that extra encouragement and her updates help reinforce the value of my child’s contributions in class. Knowing that she recognizes and appreciates his efforts not only keeps me involved but also motivates him to stay engaged and feel confident. Mrs. Asay’s positive words make all the difference in nurturing both his academic growth and emotional well-being."
Thank you for all you do, Alexandra Asay, to make a positive difference and move HCPS forward!
