"She is an exceptional administrator, one of which I learned so much from. Mrs. Meeks leads with students at the center of all decisions. She works diligently to facilitate conversations among the math teachers to have a meaningful impact on instruction. Even from afar, I continue to be impressed by her leadership!
"Mrs. Meeks attends each math PLC meeting as a participant. She asks thoughtful questions for teachers to reflect and make data-driven decisions. This year, Mrs. Meeks has invited the math specialists to attend PLC meetings to facilitate meaningful dialogue about the instructional model and aligned curriculum."
Nominator Corey Calder said:
"She is the heart of Elko Middle School. She is focused on building strong relationships with the Elko community while being a strong instructional leader in the building. No matter what is going on at Elko, we are better everyday with her guidance.
"When she let me shadow her for a few days after being announced as the second associate principal, Mrs. Meeks showed me the Elko Way and made me feel at home from Day 1. I remember doing cafeteria duty with her, and she got her students attention, said something nice about me and then started lunch. At that moment, students came up to me to chat and get to know me. It was impactful because when I officially started in August with students in the building, students remembered me and we picked up where we left off. I hope to be half the leader she is because she has the talents to move ANY building in the right direction."
Thank you for all you do, Taleesa Meeks, to make a positive difference and move HCPS forward!
