YAYWORTHY

Lisa Buchanan, one of several nominators from Short Pump Elementary, said:

"Ms. Kathy goes above and beyond to make students and families feel comfortable! Ms. Kathy made a personal phone call to each of the kindergarteners on her route. Before calling, she noticed that my son didn't have any siblings on the bus. She looked at her roster and suggested a friend for him to sit with on the first day of school. My kindergartner loves seeing Ms. Kathy every morning! She even uses the few seconds she has at the bus stop to catch up with parents. She makes us feel as though our children are with a family friend, not just a bus driver. Thank you, Ms. Kathy, for loving your job and our children!"

Nominator Danielle Chonko said:

"She’s absolutely incredible. As a first-time parent with a kindergartner, she went above and beyond to call me before the school year to introduce herself, and get to know my daughter a bit more before school started. Any first-time parent understands the nerves when sending a kid to school, especially kindergarten, and riding the bus for the first time. By her calling, she provided calamity to me knowing that my daughter was in great hands on the bus ride to school. I honestly can’t thank her enough for going above and beyond!"

Nominator Mayank Singh said:

"She is awesome, always treats kids wonderfully and informs parents ahead of time for any changes. A couple of times, kids missed the bus while returning and she was very helpful in reaching out to other drivers and school to ensure kids safety."

Nominator Jamie Garland said:

"She is my kids’ first and last YAY of each and every school day. She sets the tone for their day and it’s always with a welcoming smile, even hugs when needed, and a positive attitude. She is adored by my family and every other family I know at our bus stop!"

Thank you for all you do, Kathy Miller, to make a positive difference and move HCPS forward!
