YAYWORTHY:
Nominator Corey Calder said:
"She is the heartbeat of Short Pump Middle School because she supports every student, staff and community member. She has a one-of-a-kind way with how she does what she does, and it is truly special.
"She was instrumental in creating Puma Camp for sixth grade orientation. As the sixth grade admin two years ago, I felt like that experience helped our sixth graders not only get accustomed to the routines of SPMS, but they also had all the knowledge they needed to start their middle school journey. There was also a time where we were supporting a student who was going through crisis. She stayed calm and made sure the student felt calm and heard throughout the entire process. I found myself taking notes on different ways to talk to students to support them through tough times. It was like a mini professional learning experience."
Nominator Sarah Zelenak added:
"Heather is a hidden jewel, a multifaceted leader who performs far beyond the call of duty. She is a consultant, a mentor, a wise human who offers unique contributions outside of her role. Heather made my transition back into Henrico and into this new role as seamless as possible. Her passion for mentoring me was fueled by optimizing my availability and services to students.
"Heather is a selfless person who works incredibly hard. It came to my attention further when one of her staff members worked in my building this summer and we shared the exact same praises! Heather, thank you so much for supporting me, for facilitating my growth into leadership, for deeply impacting people in such a positive and profound way both in and outside of your Short Pump community! We see you and are so incredibly appreciative of the beautiful person you are and the difference you make for many!"
Thank you for all you do, Heather Sharpe, to make a positive difference and move HCPS forward!
