Tiffany Lewis, HCPS' new Chief Equity, Diversity and Opportunity Officer

After a comprehensive search for a new leader for the Office of Equity, Diversity and Opportunity, Henrico County Public Schools has promoted Tiffany Lewis, an education specialist from within that same office.

Lewis, a graduate of Varina High School, first worked in the school division as an English teacher at her alma mater from 2007 to 2010. Since joining the Office of Equity, Diversity and Opportunity in 2020, Lewis has been instrumental in leading many successful initiatives to support inclusion, belonging and achievement for all students.

“Ensuring every student – regardless of their background – has access to the resources and support they need to be successful is at the heart of all teaching and learning in Henrico Schools,” said Amy Cashwell, school superintendent. “Through her work in the classroom and the Office of Equity, Diversity and Opportunity, Tiffany Lewis has demonstrated a deep understanding of student and family needs and the many ways HCPS and community organizations can partner together to break down barriers to achievement, address inequities and celebrate our diverse community of learners.”

Lewis holds a Bachelor of Science in communications with a minor in English from Old Dominion University. She also earned a Master of Arts in organizational communication from Marist College in New York and a Master of Science in education from the University of Virginia. She holds several professional certifications and has served as an adjunct professor, academic consultant and curriculum writer.

“It is an honor to work with school and community partners to serve the students and families of Henrico County Public Schools in a way that recognizes and honors the dignity of all through a lens of equity and inclusivity,” said Lewis. “As a product of Henrico County Public Schools, I know the beauty that exists in the array of diverse lived experiences throughout the Henrico family. I am eager to continue helping our students attain high quality academic outcomes for real-world, life-ready application.”
