YAY MAGGIE HAGY! Maggie Hagy, a chorus teacher at Short Pump Middle School, is today's "Yay of the Day" honoree! Superintendent Amy Cashwell honored her recently at Short Pump.

YAYWORTHY:

Nominator Virginia Koontz said,

“Mrs. Hagy went out of her way to help with our project. We were creating a song and she offered to help us bring the whole thing to life. She was extremely generous with her own time and equipment to help two students with a project not even for her own class. She made learning fun and enjoyable. Her abundant enthusiasm, constant kindness and excitement in students achieving is why she deserves this recognition.

“We were creating a theme song for our project in World History class and I had asked her a question about music production and without a second thought volunteered to help us with the entire song process, and it wasn't even for her own class. We had the lyrics already but she helped us add instruments, beats and helped us record vocals during her own planning time. She taught us how to stay on beat to a song and how to incorporate different production elements. Her enthusiasm in the process and the learning of how to produce a song made the experience fun while also creating a better song then we ever could have made on our own. It was a very kind act that she didn't have to do. I'm one of her advisory students not even in one of her academic classes and she still took the time out of her day to collaborate with us."

Thank you for all you do, Maggie Hagy, to make a positive difference and move HCPS forward!
