InspireYouth@Work

The Capital Region Workforce Partnership is hosting an InspireYouth@Work Regional Opportunity Fair on Saturday, March 9, 10 a.m.-2 p.m. at Fairmount Christian Church. This free event is a platform to connect youth and young adults, ages 14-24, with employers, community resources and civic engagement organizations in a fun and supportive setting.

This year, the theme is “Check Your REALity.” Attendees will participate in an activity that delves into the essentials of managing income based on individual career choices. This immersive experience will blend elements of Monopoly and Chance into a captivating game. Attendees will embark on a journey, each receiving a profession and a wage. As they navigate through the vendors’ booths, they will face life circumstances that will alter their available funds. While visits to the bank to replenish funds are interspersed throughout the game, every decision and interaction will count, ensuring an engaging experience while teaching essential financial skills. Participants also will be part of insightful sessions that explore work-life balance and mastering the skills of effective money management. Designed to be more than networking, this event is a playground of learning, growth and discovering the real-world dynamics of success. Youth will leave the event with a professional headshot and a budgeting journal sponsored by Virginia Credit Union.
