YAY VICTORIA FERRIS! Victoria Ferris, the family and consumer science teacher and girls volleyball coach at Varina High School, is today's "Yay of the Day" honoree. Superintendent Amy Cashwell honored her recently.

YAYWORTHY:

Nominator Amanda Newmark said,

"Ms. Ferris is a teacher and coach who truly cares about her students. During volleyball season, Ms. Ferris finishes her culinary teaching during the day and quickly shifts her attention to the lady blue junior varsity and varsity volleyball student athletes. She works with the teams six days a week and on game days, she prepares dinner for all of her volleyball athletes.

"At the end of the volleyball season, Coach Ferris created a special 'end-of-season banquet' for all of the girls and boys volleyball players. She included her culinary students in the preparation and serving of the food at the banquet. Her culinary students were dressed in professional chef-ware and served each participant at the banquet. We could tell that Ms. Feris trained them in professional service techniques and the food was better than we have had in most restaurants. She not only takes pride in her teaching, but she understands that it takes a village of caring adults to raise and graduate amazing students and future leaders. Coach Ferris is a true gem and an integral part of the Varina High School team! She truly cares about her students, and as a father of a Varina student-athlete, I appreciate all of the love and care she exhibits."

Thank you for all you do, Victoria Ferris, to make a positive difference and move HCPS forward!
