YAY TANIKA LAWSON! Tanika Lawson, an assistant principal at Quioccasin Middle, is today's "Yay of the Day" honoree. Dr. Ingrid Grant, chief of school leadership, recently honored her at the school.

“She is always ON IT! She is able to think quickly on her feet and consider all angles, making informed, thoughtful and effective decisions. She is proactive and always remains calm, thinking ahead and considering logistics and solutions that utilize all resources. She communicates effectively and in a timely manner, making sure that everyone has the information they need when they need it. All of this makes her a great administrator and teammate — and a perfect person to serve as our safety administrator.
“As a fellow administrator, I appreciate that she always jumps in if I (or anyone else) is unavailable or unable. She takes care of whatever needs to be done efficiently and effectively. Oftentimes, there may be a call for assistance or an issue with a student that I would normally assist with, but if I can't be there, Ms. Lawson takes care of it and fills me in. I learn from her every day!”
