YAY LAKEISHA STOCKTON! LaKeisha Stockton, a second grade teacher at Jacob Adams Elementary School, is today's "Yay of the Day" honoree. Superintendent Amy Cashwell honored her recently at the school.

YAYWORTHY:

Nominator Jasmine Smith said:

“She is patient, kind, uplifting and always encourages her students to do their best. The theme of her classroom is ‘family’ and she treats each and every one of kids as family! She finds creative ways to keep them engaged in class while also allowing them to explore different solutions to problems. She shows up to work daily with a smile on her face and never misses an opportunity to pour her happiness into her students.

“When my child first entered second grade, she was shy and somewhat of a perfectionist. My daughter would be upset if she didn’t make a perfect score and Ms. Stockton helped her to understand better why she got things wrong. Ms. Stockton allowed my child to find a path that would help her be successful while also letting her know it was OK to make mistakes. She took the time to learn my daughter’s strengths and weakness. As result of her recommendations, my daughter was accepted into the gifted program at her school. Ms. Stockton is so easy to talk to, and whenever I have any questions she is always available. We refer to her as family, because I know when my kids enter her classroom they are in good hands. They are challenged daily, they are loved and every day they learn something new. We need more teachers like her! From being a teacher to a dance coach for the PAL programs, she is making an impact on the kids!”

Thank you for all you do, Lakeisha Stockton, to make a positive difference and move HCPS forward!
