pumpkin

HENRICO, Va., Sept. 28, 2023 — Fall is a great time for planting and decorating. Get started Oct. 12 and Oct. 13 at a plant sale at the Advanced Career Education Center at Virginia Randolph. Turn your yard into a haven for wildlife with student-grown, environmentally friendly native plants. Check out perennials that thrive in late summer and fall, such as native grasses, asters, columbine and phlox. Students will also be selling house plants. Of course, Halloween is around the corner, and students will also be selling pumpkins in all shapes and colors.

Cooler autumn temperatures are easier on new plants and there’s still time for plants to establish the roots they’ll need for next spring and summer.

New England Asters

In addition to plants, culinary students will be selling barbecue sandwiches, masonry students will have concrete garden benches and containers for sale, and barbering and cosmetology students will be selling scalp oil.
