A school security officer at Glen Allen High School.

HENRICO, Va., Sept. 7, 2023 — The 2023-24 school year is fully underway, but that doesn’t mean it’s too late to launch your career with Henrico County Public Schools, which was recently named one of Virginia’s Best-In-State Employers by Forbes.

HCPS is hosting a job fair on Sept. 12 from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. at the Fairfield Area Library. Candidates are being sought for a variety of positions across the school division, including teachers, bus drivers, school nutrition staff, school security officers and more.

Representatives from the HCPS Human Resources department will be on site to discuss what makes Henrico County Public Schools one of the best places to work in the commonwealth.

HCPS is offering newly hired bus drivers a bonus of up to $3,000, paid in installments throughout the year, when they join the transportation team. HCPS also offers new safe driver and attendance incentives to drivers already on staff. Extended full-time contracts are available for drivers who wish to work during summer school.

Don’t worry if you don’t have bus driving experience — if you’re a qualified driver candidate, you’ll be paid as you train.

Candidates for full-time and substitute bus drivers must be at least 21 years old; have a valid Virginia driver’s license; be able to obtain a CDL Class B instructional permit or hold a CDL Class B license with endorsements in P/S (Passenger Transportation/School Bus) and airbrakes; and pass a physical and a drug test.

If you can’t make the job fair, or have questions, you can call the HCPS Human Resources Department at 804-652- 3664 to talk about our open positions. You can also visit our Careers page to keep up to date with future hiring events, available benefits or applications.
