YAY ERIN DOUGLAS! Erin Douglas, an exceptional-education teacher at Jackson Davis Elementary, is today’s “Yay of the Day” honoree. Superintendent Amy Cashwell honored her recently.
YAYWORTHY: Nominator Destiny Dykes said: “As a parent of a child entering the exceptional education pre-K program, I was uneasy and had many concerns. Ms. Douglas quickly assured me that I had nothing to worry about and that my son would flourish in the new environment. She shows how much she cares for each student in her class and keeps open communication with her parents. She exudes so much energy that my son looks forward to going to school, and he comes home every day having learned something new. Dad and I love getting exciting emails during the day when Mason has reached a developmental milestone!
“Our son is nonverbal but is making great strides in communicating his wants and needs. Recently, our son has started using more body gestures to tell us what he wants and is becoming more independent with his daily school routine. We can’t thank Ms. Douglas enough for all the support she has provided.”
