YAY CHRISTA WHEATON! Christa Wheaton, a fourth grade teacher at Colonial Trail Elementary School, is today’s “Yay of the Day” honoree. Superintendent Amy Cashwell honored her recently at the school.

YAYWORTHY: Nominator Janina Kirkseyn said: “Mrs. Wheaton provides tremendous support to my son and our family. Because of looping, this is the second year he has had her as his teacher, and we were beyond thrilled when we found out she’d be his teacher again. She successfully challenges my child without intimidating him (or the other students). School can be scary and hard but she makes it fun. You can see her joy in being with her students; it’s genuine and we are so fortunate!

“Mrs. Wheaton shows up and is present every single day. There was an upcoming test and it wasn’t something I was able to explain to him. I sent her an SOS email early in the morning about the confusion we were having. She replied right away and pulled him aside when he got to class to explain things to him in a way he understood. He came home smiling. This is just one of the many great things Mrs. Wheaton has done to impact my son positively.”

Thank you for all you do, Christa Wheaton, to make a positive difference and move HCPS forward!
