YAY BRIAN STANLEY! Brian Stanley, maintenance supervisor at George Baker, Anthony Mehfoud, Varina and George Ward elementary schools, is today’s “Yay of the Day” honoree. Superintendent Amy Cashwell honored him recently.

YAYWORTHY: Nominator Sarah Stanley said: “I know I am his wife, but I see how much time and love he pours into his schools. Brian consistently goes above and beyond his normal job duties. He always has a positive attitude and will show up and work with a smile on his face. He takes pride in his schools and ensures that they look and function the best. He takes pride in his work and makes sure that nothing gets left behind. Brian has personally gotten to know the teachers and staff members.

“I see the phone calls and text messages he gets at all times of the day, with troubleshooting issues and other requests. He never complains and he is always willing to lend a helping hand no matter what his schedule looks like. He has put together new furniture for our library and installed whiteboards in classrooms. There is a local church that rents space in one of the schools each Sunday, and Brian is always there to help them set up and break down their equipment. He has dressed up like Santa and grilled meals for faculty and staff.

“Teachers (including myself) often get creative with what they want or need in classrooms. Brian has been there to create shelving units, fix loose screws and fix emergency leaks. He has even formed relationships with some of my own students who need extra love, and they love him! I love to watch their faces as ‘Mr. Stanley’ walks in the door! I could not be more proud!”

Thank you for all you do, Brian Stanley, to make a positive difference and move HCPS forward!
