Respondents can help chart HCPS’ course — and have a shot at family and school incentives

Henrico, Va., March 6, 2023 — The window opens today for Henrico County Public Schools’ 2023 Survey. By sharing perspectives and experiences, parents, guardians, staff members and students can help their schools — and the entire school division — improve and make important decisions for the future. Parents and guardians should receive an email today with a link to this year’s edition of the survey, which will take about 15-20 minutes and can be completed through March 31.

By sharing perspectives and experiences, parents, guardians, staff members and students can help make important decisions for the future, such as what new programs are necessary, how to improve current ones, and how to allocate funds and personnel. The results will help the division measure its progress in a range of areas related to the four cornerstones outlined in HCPS’ strategic plan, “Destination 2025: The Plan for HCPS.” The cornerstones are safety and wellness; academic growth; equity and opportunity; and relationships.

Respondents will also have a chance to score some incentives for participating. The school in each Henrico County magisterial district with the highest response rate will win professional development funds for its teachers, courtesy of the Henrico Education Foundation. At least one family from each of the five magisterial districts will be randomly selected for a prize bag from HCPS’ Department of Family and Community Engagement.

HCPS is conducting the survey with help from the Metropolitan Educational Research Consortium at VCU’s School of Education. Answers are anonymous and confidential, and the consortium will only report information to HCPS in summary form.

In addition to the email, a parent and guardian survey link will be available on the HCPS website through March 31 at https://henricoschools.us/annual-schools-survey/. Those needing a paper copy of the parent and guardian survey should contact their child’s school. The survey is available in English, Spanish, Arabic, Dari, Portuguese and Vietnamese.
