YAY SYDNEY WHITE! Sydney White, a fourth grade teacher at Longdale Elementary School, is today’s “Yay of the Day” honoree. Superintendent Amy Cashwell honored her recently at the school.

YAYWORTHY: Nominator Stacey Coleman said: “Ms. White exemplifies what a teacher and advocate is. She is always striving to educate students both in and out of the classroom and has impacted the lives of many students in the short time that she has been teaching. The Longdale community is so lucky to have her influence and dedication. It’s nice to know that when your child hears, “Ms. White is your teacher this year,” their immediate reaction is excitement and enthusiasm for the upcoming year. She is definitely leaving a lasting impression at Longdale. What a great addition to the HCPS team!

“A specific example of the way she makes an impact is how she supported my student and others in their extracurricular activities. Not only does she make an impression within the classroom, but she creates memories and long-lasting relationships with all her students outside the school building — which is what an educator is. She takes the time to learn about her students. Ms. White creates an environment inside and outside her classroom that students strive to be part of. They work every day to uphold her standards and expectations. From a parental standpoint, I feel so confident that my student is in the best hands while in Ms. White’s classroom. I couldn’t ask for a better schooling experience for fourth grade.”

Thank you for all you do, Sydney White, to make a positive difference and move HCPS forward!
