Section 504
Section 504 is a federal law designed to protect the rights of individuals with disabilities in programs and activities that receive federal financial assistance from the U.S. Department of Education. The Section 504 regulations require a school division to provide a free appropriate public education to each qualified student with a disability in the school division’s jurisdiction, regardless of the nature or severity of the disability. Please contact the Section 504 coordinator for Henrico County Public Schools (after consulting the HCPS Section 504 Guidelines and Procedures) with any questions about Section 504, or for a print copy of the guidelines and procedures.
