Community Service
  • As you choose activities over the summer and next school year, please consider:
    • Check out the JRT Community Service Website & Community Service Dashboard to find valuable information before starting activities. PLEASE also bookmark these!
    • Review the Community Service Guidelines Document on the Dashboard Link—students should check this BEFORE starting an activity!!!!
      • NOTE: The key to determining whether or not the service meets the criteria is asking—WHO BENEFITS FROM THE SERVICE? The answer should be: Those organizations which are identified as an educational institution, those with non-profit status (501C-3), or an individual in need such as the poor, the sick, or those with special needs.
  • Number of hours needed for the diploma seal:
    • Rising Juniors & Seniors—50
    • Rising Freshmen & Sophomores—80 (Fall 2022 change moving forward after COVID restrictions)
  • Submitting hours electronically:
    • Please refer to the JRT website for the link to submit hours.
    • Students must use HCPS credentials to access all forms and documents. Students may need to wait until August to submit activities once they have their laptops back. It is suggested that they keep a paper copy of activities that can be submitted later.
    • All JRT Social Studies teachers will review these expectations and processes once school begins and throughout the year.
