Patrick joined the TMS Esports Club yesterday to talk about his career, the gaming industry, and video game-based career opportunities. On Tuesday Mr. Short and Ms. Williams guided all Earth Science students along the James River to see firsthand many of the science concepts they will be learning this year! We are so impressed by the dedication of these teachers to ensure that all of the students experience science in the real world!
We are so excited to announce that Tuckahoe has received the honor of being named a Special Olympics National Unified Champion Banner School! We are so proud of Ms. Murray, Ms. Mancini, and all of the students participating in Unified Basketball and making Tuckahoe an inclusive school!
The first Maker Morning of the year was a huge success. Students learned basic coding with Code and Go Mice, circuitry with Little Bits, Stop Motion video creation, and enjoyed the Osmos tablet games! #PatriotPride

Each year we like to prepare a theme that is the cornerstone of our planning and development for the upcoming year. This year we will be unlocking the flavor and igniting the future with a cooking theme! When we cook, we gather ingredients, teachers find just the right quality of ingredients, (video clips, articles, examples) to enhance the dish (lesson). We follow a recipe (structure of the lesson) to make the learning come out just right! Sometimes we need to tweak the recipe or ingredients by adding some seasoning to enhance the dish to make sure we meet the different learning styles and reinforce understanding. Finally, the master chef (teacher) pulls it all together to present a beautifully plated dish and the learners can showcase their newfound knowledge through projects, presentations, discussions, and other assessments! Cooking works as a great metaphor to teaching and learning. We can’t wait to get cooking!
