Hello TCES Cougars!
We hope that everyone is enjoying their summer and staying safe! It seems that school just ended but we are planning for the 2024-2025 school year and wanted to keep you updated on our progress. Our theme this year is “We Are Out of This World” and we want all of our TCES families to join us on the journey. Our motto for the year is “Think It. Believe It. Achieve It.” and with that, I will be engaging with students, teachers, and our broader community to ensure that every voice is heard and and everyone feels included in some way this school year! Our focus continues to be on relationships, health/wellness, and building an inclusive community to ensure our families are present and heard throughout our school. Below are some important events to mark on your calendar for the upcoming school year:
Sunday, August 4, 2024 ~ Popsicles with the Principal (3:00 - 4:00pm)
Come meet Mrs. Spain, enjoy a popsicle, and make new friends on our Playground
Tuesday, August 6, 2024 ~ PTA/TCES Back to School Wellness & Safety Family Forum (6:00pm)
Hear from the PTA about fundraising and how it benefits/support your students and our school. School staff will also provide information about school safety drills, our crisis plan, partnership with Henrico Police, as well as Anonymous Alerts, Handle With Care, and Securly.
Thursday, August 15, 2024 ~ PK & Kg Open House from 9:00 - 10:00am
This is an opportunity for our youngest scholars to have access to their classrooms and walking from bus loop, car loop, etc without large crowds. It’s also an opportunity for families to fill out required paperwork and identify how your scholar will go home after school.
Thursday, August 15, 2024 ~ 1st - 5th Open House from 3:00 - 5:00pm
Please be sure that you have contacted your scholar’s teacher with how they will go home in the afternoon.
Monday, August 19, 2024 ~ FIRST Day of School. Doors open at 7:20am
Please be sure to put your scholar’s first & last name, and their teacher’s name, on their backpack. Also, ensure that you have touched base with the teacher (or send a note on the first day) to ensure how your scholar will go home after school.
Thursday, September 19, 2024 ~ PTA Back to School Night from 6:00 - 7:30pm
Meet the teachers and hear about classroom procedures and curriculum.
Enjoy these last few weeks of the summer and we look forward to seeing all of our Springer’s at the end of August with a fresh perspective toward learning! When we apply what we have learned to our own lived experiences it helps to bridge our learning and our lives; this is important, because when we return in August that will be the TCES Cougar focus -- student-centered learning experiences!
