Bullhorn with text "From John Rolfe's English Department"

Here is some news for the week from our English department.  View the flyer here or read along below.

Lexia: Lexia Power Up is a literacy program that students can work in at home. The program focuses on grammar, reading fluency, and comprehension.

The site is located on your scholar’s Clever page.

For all English classes students are required to earn 20 units per week for a grade. We recommend 10-20 minutes per night as homework.

Quarterly Assessments: For all English classes there will be a quarterly test taken within the last two week of each nine weeks grading period. This test must be taken to track student progress with taught skills.

For testing your scholar will need: HCPS computer, charger, good night’s rest, words of encouragement. Please help teachers make sure they are prepared.

Performance Tasks: English students will have a writing/creative project due every quarter. For each grade level their project is different.

Quarter 1 PT Due-October 25

Students will work in class to complete their project, but they may work on it for homework to ensure that it’s turned in on time. Contact your child’s English teacher for more details.
