Safety Plan Update 4/30/2024
Visitors to our school will soon see an added layer of security in our building as weapon scanners are phased in at all elementary schools across the county. The scanners, similar to the ones you see at amusement parks, are already being used successfully at HCPS middle schools and high schools.
Beginning on Monday, May 6, adult visitors to our school and students who arrive late to school will pass through the scanners on their way to the main office for check-in. Also, to help students become familiar with the scanners, PE teachers will take a few minutes during class to demonstrate how the scanners work and allow students to practice walking through them.
Over the summer, we will work with the HCPS safety team on plans to phase in the daily use of scanners during student arrival next school year. Please watch Elementary School Weapon Scanning Video- Visitors and late students to see what scanning at elementary school vestibules will look like as well as next years student arrival.
