spring break sunshine

We hope everyone enjoy a fun, safe Spring Break with family and friends! To get us ready, some of our kindergarteners made their own hopping bunnies. It was fun to watch the students design their own bunnies, work with our Innovative Learning Coach to build the props, and then set their bunnies hopping around the room. They not only enjoyed the project, but they also learned a little more about measurement (which bunny jumped the furthest, which type of bunny jumped the highest, what type of force produced the best jump, etc.). It was a fun-filled morning!

Our 5th graders also spent time thinking about Spring Break while completing a Lego project. After reading Tuck Everlasting and discussing the author's theme, the students focused on the quote "The first week of August hangs at the very top of the summer, the top of the live-long year, like the highest seat of a Ferris wheel when it pauses in its turning. The weeks that come before are only a climb from balmy spring, and those that follow a drop to the chill of autumn, but the first week of August is motionless, and hot." Students then worked with our Innovative Learning Coach to design their own moving Ferris wheels with Legos and their computers. What fun, creative culminating project!
