On-Time Attendance Matters!  The state of Virginia reviews schools’ attendance rates when determining accreditation status, in addition to reading, math, and science Standards of Learning (SOL) test scores.  The Virginia Department of Education requires all schools to maintain less than a 15% chronic absence rate to remain fully accredited.  A student is considered chronically absent if 10% or more of school days are missed for any reason – excused or unexcused.  Rivers Edge communicates attendance information with families by sending home letters beginning at 7 days absent.  Help REES remain accredited by coming to school each day ready to learn!

If your child has been absent for 8% of this school year, you will be receiving a note to inform you of how many total absences your child currently has, including both excused and unexcused. We do understand students get sick, and while we want students to be safe and stay home as needed per the Henrico County Illness Policy, we encourage students to come to school when healthy. Please reference Student Illnesses on the Henrico County website for specifics. If your child is out for any reason, please call the front office to report this absence.  Thank you.
