
So much science happened in fifth grade this past week! Students designed their own cars and investigated the effects of friction. They learned the fabric ramp allowed the car to travel the shortest distance in comparison to the foil and sandpaper. Great work scientists!

Congratulations to House Elephanta for having the most house points during the second quarter. All the Elephantas had fun celebrating today during extra recess!








Wow! Look at these impressive books created by Miss.West's firsties. They researched an animal, used Book Creator to share their learning and shared it with the class. Way to go!








Fifth graders used the Dash robot with Mrs.Raonaq to conduct an investigation to test the time it took him to get to 100 cm depending on his speed. We had so much fun learning about force, motion, and speed.




So proud of our first graders for trying Book Creator for the first time! There was lots of excitement and they can't wait to add what they will research next week about their animal to their book.





Mrs.Bell's class used the Spheros to review their knowledge of continents and oceans. They showed excellent collaboration skills!





In observance of Martin Luther King Jr. Day, we are closed Monday, Jan. 15th.


A big congratulations goes to Mrs.Biller for achieving her National Board Certification! This is a rigorous process and one of the highest levels of teaching achievement. We are so proud of you!


Our students had a fun filled day celebrating winter. We wish you the very best holidays and relaxing winter break!










Mrs.Velez's and Mrs. Reilley's class visited Tuckahoe Middle and engaged in various stations that involved creativity and critical thinking skills and were all led by the Power Patriots. They had the best time!








Some of our Roadrunners participated in the Twilight 1-Mile race on Saturday. It was the final race for our fall run club for 3rd-5th graders. Look at them go!

In celebration of computer science week, students coded a dance party during LAMP last week. Coding is a great way to teach students how to become problem solvers.







This second grade student wow us with her excellent communication skills as she shared about her heritage on the morning announcements. We love learning all about the different countries and holidays our students celebrate.



Fifth graders used Scratch to code a sprite to name the state in the Southeast region. Coding came so easily to them. What great critical thinking skills!





Congratulations to Ahmed in Ms.Custis' house for winning the school wide spelling bee competition!

Ms.West’s class learned about properties of matter and the different materials things are made of. They were tasked with designing an umbrella to keep a bear dry. They used critical thinking skills to make adjustments when materials were not successful.Way to go, first graders!
