Greenwood Families,

We are excited to continue offering opportunities for our students to shine their light academically. Our teachers are dedicating countless hours to planning rigorous, well-rounded experiences that support each student’s academic, social, and emotional growth. At our school, instruction is personal; we strive to meet each child’s unique needs and potential. Consistent student attendance is essential, as each day builds on skills and knowledge that contribute to their overall academic success. We can’t wait to kick off week two of the second marking period.

YAY AMY EBERHARD

ParentSquare Important Reminders
We’re excited to share that over 80% of our school community is now using ParentSquare to communicate with teachers and receive weekly updates. Our goal is to reach 100% parent participation by Thanksgiving. If you need help with the app, please reach out to your child’s teacher.

When parents send messages to teachers on ParentSquare, these often go directly to the teachers’ phones. We’re sharing this to encourage families to be mindful of message timing. To respect teachers’ personal time, we kindly ask that messages be sent between 7 AM and 6 PM, Monday - Friday whenever possible. Thank you for your understanding and support.

Friendsgiving Details
We are very grateful to our room parents for leading a special event at Greenwood called Friendsgiving, a tradition started last year to celebrate community and connection. In November, we invite all families to join their child and classmates for lunch, creating a memorable experience that strengthens our school’s climate and culture. Families are encouraged to bring a festive lunch for themselves and their student, and students will still have the option of getting lunch from the cafeteria. While the school will not be providing lunch for parents, parents are welcome to bring in food such as sandwiches, wraps, fruit trays, or snack-sized desserts to share with the class if desired. We look forward to seeing the tables decorated with fall touches to make this Friendsgiving warm and welcoming for all!

Cereal Box and Canned Food Drive
Thank you, families, for sending in cereal boxes and canned food this week for our annual food drive! This drive is about more than collecting food; it’s about teaching our students the power of giving and supporting those in need. By participating, we’re not only helping families in Henrico County but also making a positive impact across our broader community. To make it even more exciting, the class that brings in the most food donations will be crowned our Turkey King or Queen! Thank you for showing up for this cause—together, we’re making a difference.

Daily Report and Green Folder Update
Thank you, families, for consistently reviewing your child’s daily report in their green folder each Friday, along with graded papers. This weekly check-in helps keep you informed about their progress with behavioral goals. Our goal is for 100% of our 2nd to 5th-grade students to participate in our House Achievement Celebration on January 16. We appreciate your partnership in making this possible. Please remember, students will lose eligibility for House Achievement if they receive six or more ‘X’ marks or if they have one referral for a Tier 2 or Tier 3 discipline infraction. Thank you for your continued support!

Sunday, November 10: Spilling the Tea with Mr. Stein @ 7 PM
