Fundraising Update 

  • We are still waiting for the spirit wear items that were earned during our fundraiser to arrive to our school. We hope they arrive this week and distributed to our students before Friday.  

House Shirts 

  • Keep sending in your half sheets if you want a house shirt! Our hope is that all kids have a house shirt to wear on our spirit wear Fridays. They are going fast! 

Wednesday, October 25 - End of Quarter 1 

  • Please ensure all work is submitted and consider having your child write a thank-you note to their teacher for the 1st quarter. Our school is very successful because we have the best teachers in Virginia. 

  • We will also announce what house earned the most points in quarter 1 at 2:00 PM. This house will earn a Gator Bash on 11.1.23 @ 7:20 AM. 

Thursday, October 26 - End of Quarter 1 clubs

  • Huge thanks to all our 1st quarter morning club facilitators! Join us on Friday, October 27 at Tatonka Unity Day to watch performances by our step team, dance team, drumline, tubano, and cheerleaders. 

  • The Spirt Cart will be open to our 4th and 5th Grade. 

Friday, October 27 - Student Half-Day 

  • House Tatonka members are invited to a special breakfast and activity session from 7:15-7:55 AM.

  • Tatonka Unity Day is a highlight of the year taking place from 8:15 - 9:15 AM! Show your house spirit and join the celebration of the house of dreamers. Parents are invited! 

  • At Bison Bash from 9:30 - 10:30 AM, students with 6 or fewer x's on their green folders in grades 2-5 can participate in a mini field day, while Kindergarten and 1st grade students will enjoy a special activity in their classrooms. Get ready to earn major house points!

  • Please note that dismissal starts at 11:00 AM. We can't accommodate early dismissals or transportation changes after 10:30 AM. 

Sunday, October 29: Regency Mile
We hope our Greenwood Gators can participate in the one mile race! CLICK HERE to register. Use the code  "GES23" for $10 off the registration fee which will make it $15.

Monday, October 30 - Fall Picture Day

  • Get those outfits ready for picture day! If you would like to volunteer to help organize the students, please sign up HERE

  • We are looking for a sponsor to purchase a 8 x 10 for each of our new students and PK/Kindergarten students to go into the ceiling in our hallways. If you are interested in funding this project, please give us a call at the school at 804-261-2970. These pictures remain in the hallway until they graduate from Greenwood! 

Tuesday, October 31 

  • Students can dress up as their favorite book character (no masks allowed).

  • Join us for Daddy Daughter Morning Mash on Tuesday, October 31, from 7:20 - 7:40 AM, where all male role models are invited to celebrate with their daughters.

  • October 31 is the deadline to register for the Magic of Music.  This is a great opportunity for students to showcase their singing gift and talent. 

Wednesday, November 1 - House Winner Celebration 

  • Get ready to celebrate with a Gator Bash with the house that earned the most points in the 1st quarter. 

  • If you are not receiving text messages when you child earns a house point, please bring your phone and your questions to parent teacher conferences. 

Thursday, November 2

  • Tune in to "Spilling the Tea with Mr. Stein" at 8:30 AM on Thursday, November 2, for insights and answers about our school.

  • On the same day, join us for Mother Son Salsa Mañana in the gym from 7:20 - 7:40 AM for a morning of dancing, chanting, and pure fun!

  • Good luck to our Keva Plank team competing in the Keva Plank Tournament hosted at Colonial Trail Elementary School.  This event helps to spur creativity, problem solving, and teamwork skills! 

Friday, November 3

  • Starting with the Book Fair opening and the Reading Award Ceremony from 7:20 - 8:00 AM, followed by a Classroom Award Ceremony (not open to parents). In the evening, our Greenwood House Basketball Tournament will take place from 4 - 5:45 PM at RockIt Sports. We also wish our Greenwood Basketball team good luck as they compete against 8 schools from 6 - 8 PM at RockIt Sports. Come cheer them on! 

  • Spirit cart is closed due to the book fair being open

Sunday, November 5 - 2nd Quarter Morning Clubs Released - 6 PM 
Students that are in Advanced Dance, Advanced Drumline, Step Team, Fearless, and Cheerleading do not need to sign up again. Our 2nd quarter clubs begin November 14.
