Hello Godwin families! We welcome our wonderful Godwin teachers on Monday!  School begins on August 21st.

  • Here is The Connectionwhich is the Henrico County website that provides directions for families to access our online systems.
    • PowerSchool Parent Portal:  The PowerSchool Parent Portal is now open for students and families.
    • Online Mandatory Schools Forms:  Families are able to fill out mandatory school forms through Ecollect Forms which is now accessible through the PowerSchool Parent Portal
      • Ecollect Forms is available in the parent portal by selecting the Forms button, located on the left of the PowerSchool Parent Portal main page once logged into the system.
      • Ecollect Forms is also available in the PowerSchool smart phone application.  The school division's assigned code is MXZM
      • Completing forms is mandatory in order for students to receive laptops and for other purposes for school business.
    • Class schedules:  all student class schedules will display on August 14th at 9:30am in the PowerSchool Parent Portal.
    • MySchoolBucks:  opens to families on August 7th for account creation and to load funds on lunch accounts.  Tentative:  the online free and reduced lunch application is scheduled to open to families on August 14th.

    • Bus schedules:  will display on August 14th on the transportation page in the PowerSchool Parent Portal.
  • Orientations:  We will be hosting orientations on Thursday, August 17th.
    • 9:30-11:30am---open house for 10th through 12th graders for:
      • We will distribute yearbooks for those who bought them last year.
      • We will not be distributing parking passes; we will distribute them during the 1st few weeks of school.  Students may park on campus during the first few weeks of school without a parking pass.
      • We will not be able to distribute laptops on this date because they will not be ready for distribution; we will distribute them the first week of school, if possible.
      • The PowerSchool parent/student portal will display schedules on Monday, August 14th, so we will not be distributing class schedules to 10th, 11th, and 12th graders. Students will receive a paper copy of their schedules on the first day of school in 1st period.
      • We will host a first-time in an AP class student boot camp at 10:30am.  If your child will be taking an AP class for the first time, we hope they can join us for this helpful event.  Please R.S.V.P. using this link.
      • We will host a meeting for NEW 10th, 11th, and 12th graders and their families at 11:30am in the auditorium.
    • 3-6pm---Eagle Academy:  (orientation for 9th graders) 9th graders will be at Godwin for a fun afternoon to get to know our school.
      • We will distribute paper copies of class schedules.
      • We will host a 9th grade parent meeting at 5pm in the auditorium.
    • We realize that Pocahontas and Quioccasin are both having orientation activities on this day also.  This should be fine because the 10th, 11th, and 12th grade morning is open-house style, and students may attend by themselves to pick up yearbooks. You may drop off your 9th grade child at Godwin and 3pm and come back for the 9th grade parent meeting at 5pm.
  • Upcoming Virtual Godwin Community Meeting: We will host a virtual community meeting on Tuesday, August 15th from 7-8pm Click here to join the meeting
Here are some things we will share in the meeting:
    • Daily weapons detection process (we will send out a separate email on Monday with information about weapons detection)
    • Important notes about cell phones this year:
      • Students may use their cellphones in the morning before school, in between classes, at lunch, and after school.
      • New this year: Students must store their cell phones in cell phone holders in all classrooms and will not have access to them when they leave the class to use the restroom; we will practice students having access to their cell phones during emergency situations as part of our safety drills this year.
      • Students may only also use their cellphones in class with teacher permission for academic purposes.
    • Important notes about early dismissals this year:
      • a high school student may leave for an early dismissal with a pass without parents coming into the school building; the student may drive, or meet their parents in the parking lot
      • parents will not be able to pick up their children in-person for early dismissals after 3:30pm each day so that we can ensure that our attendance office staff has time to process the end of the day attendance information and we can avoid extra traffic in the front parking lot for bus dismissal
      • a student is welcome to have an early dismissal after 3:30pm, but the student must bring a parent note to the attendance office before lunch each day
