- ACCESS for EL’s- English language(EL) assessment for EL course placement
- Alternative Authentic Assessments– portfolio type summative assessments given for SOL tests that were changed to performance based rather than multiple choice
- AP Tests- standardized assessments to award credit for advanced placement coursework
- CogAT- Ability test given to 2nd graders and those applying for gifted programs as part of the gifted identification process
- Curriculum Checkpoints- Core subject bi-quarterly assessments/performance tasks to identify areas of strength and targets for review to demonstrate student growth.
- EOC SOL Tests- SOL tests given for verified credits: Algebra 1, Algebra 2, Geometry, Reading(11), Writing(10), Earth Science, Biology, Chemistry, World History 1, World History 2 and VA/US History
- Henrico Assessments(HATs)- HCPS test to measure mastery of a subject
- Literacy Footprints- used to identify the instructional and independent reading levels of elementary students
- Math Screener– used to identify math performance targets for instruction and remediation
- NAEP- national test to measure student achievement in Reading, Math and Science- used to report health of education in the nation, Virginia randomly chosen schools and students participate
- NewsELA Reading- used to identify the instructional and independent reading levels of students
- No Red Ink- measures student’ knowledge and use of grammar skills aligned to the VA Standards of Learning for Writing
- PALS– Virginia required Phonological Assessment for grades K-3 for targeted reading improvement
- PMAA-Performance Matters Assessments and Analytics- HCPS Assessment platform to provide bi-quarterly checkpoints and teacher made assessments
- Performance Tasks– performance based assessments to demonstrate application and synthesis of the standards and skills taught throughout each quarter
- PSAT– Preliminary test to prepare students for the SAT taken for college entrance; HCPS pays for all 9th and 10th graders, 11th graders may pay $17 to take the PSAT/NMSQT
- SOLs- Virginia Standards of Learning Assessments given in Reading (grades 3-8 and 11), Writing (grades 8 & 10) ,Math (grades 3-8 and EOC Math), Science (grades 5, 8 and high school), and History (grades 4, 8 and high school); for EOC subjects, retests are given in the summer, winter and spring.
- VAAP- VA Alternative compilation of evidence assessment for grades 3-8 and 11 for students with identified Individualized Education Program (IEP) needs
- VKRP-Virginia Kindergarten Readiness Program assessment for social and Math screening of kindergarteners
- Work Keys- ACT standardized tests used as substitute tests when students have not been successful on some SOL or credentials tests
- WISE Financial Literacy Test– Student Industry CTE Credential test approved for Economics and Personal Finance
- Writing Specialty Center short paper– timed writing to a prompt assessment used for the Specialty Center and International Baccalaureate (IB) Application Process
