Alicia Atkins was elected in November 2019 to serve as the School Board’s Varina District representative. Mrs. Atkins is the first woman and the first African American elected to serve the Varina District in this capacity. She is a longtime resident of the Varina District and a graduate of Highland Springs High School. Mrs. Atkins earned a degree in business administration from California Coast University. Her professional background includes health care administration, civic engagement and education.
Mrs. Atkins believes that civic engagement is the driving force for creating change and making a positive impact. She has coached recreational cheerleading teams in eastern Henrico County, volunteered for numerous community organizations, and has served as PTA president.
Mrs. Atkins and her husband are the proud parents of three children. Her motto is “Let’s F.A.C.E. the future together!” – an acronym that stands for Facts, Action, Change and Educate.
