School Board seeks applicants to replace Marshall as Tuckahoe District representative

The following is a news release that was sent to media outlets on Aug. 24. Applicants who are interested in full details and application materials
Henrico, Va. Aug. 24, 2018 – The Henrico County School Board is seeking interested candidates to fill the remainder of the term previously served by veteran Tuckahoe District representative Lisa Marshall, who resigned for health reasons. The Board discussed the process of finding a replacement for Marshall Thursday at its regularly scheduled work session. Tuesday was Marshall’s last day on the Board. 
Minimal qualifications are (1) be a registered voter; and (2) reside in the Tuckahoe Magisterial District in Henrico County, Va. Applicants must send a letter expressing their interest and a current resume to Debbie Ward, School Board clerk. In addition, interested applicants must complete a Statement of Economic Interests and a Certificate of Qualification for Appointment.

Some of the characteristics desired for the position are: past involvement with the school division, ability to work collaboratively in the interest of all Henrico County students, professionalism, and adequate time and energy to devote to representing the Tuckahoe District. 
All completed applications, to include letter of interest, resume, Statement of Economic Interests and the Certificate of Qualification for Appointment, (either in electronic or hard copy form) must be received no later than 4:30 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 30, 2018. Selection Timeline:
Wednesday, Aug. 22: School Board position vacant
Thursday, Aug. 30 (4:30 p.m.): Application deadline
Thursday, Sept. 6 (noon): Special work session to interview selected applicants in a closed meeting
Thursday, Sept. 13 (4 p.m.): Public hearing to solicit input regarding the candidates
Thursday, Sept. 20 (5 p.m.): Special work session to select and appoint the Tuckahoe District representative
Thursday, Sept. 27: New Tuckahoe District School Board member attends first School Board meetings

Note: The appointed member will serve on the School Board representing the Tuckahoe District until a new member, elected in November 2019, assumes office in January 2020.
