Parent Cafés are parent-to-parent events, ideally delivered by parents for parents, with staff playing supportive and supporting roles. This tacitly augments a traditional social service paradigm (in which the worker is the expert and primary agent of change) with a mobilizing informal support paradigm in which parents are recognized as leaders of their families and resources for each other as well as for the program sponsoring the Cafés, consistent with the principles of family support practice.
