R6-11-004 IMPLEMENTATION OF A WELLNESS PROGRAM FOR THE STUDENTS OF HENRICO COUNTY PUBLIC SCHOOLS

(Revised June 2018)

The School Health Advisory Board shall serve as the leadership body ensuring compliance with the HCPS wellness program, including nutrition and physical activity standards, as outlined in this regulation. As described in P6-09-013, “Student Health Advisory Board,” the School Health Advisory Board shall hold public semi-annual meetings and encourage participation by the HCPS community and general public to develop, implement, and maintain wellness goals for HCPS students. At least once every three years, the Board will conduct an assessment of the HCPS wellness program as outlined in this regulation to determine schools’ compliance with this regulation, the extent to which the HCPS school wellness program compares to other model local school wellness policies, and the school division’s progress in obtaining the goals of the HCPS wellness program. The results of this assessment will be made available to the public by the School Health Advisory Board as part of its annual presentation to the School Board.
