HCPS won’t open before Labor Day next year, but will consider it for 2021-22 school year
Henrico Schools will continue its practice of starting the school year after Labor Day for 2020-21, but the school division will consider getting started earlier for 2021-22. For the first time in decades, Virginia’s school divisions can elect to start up to two weeks before Labor Day after the General Assembly voted to eliminate the 1986 requirement that schools open after the holiday.

If you see something, use the new “Anonymous Alerts” system to say something
Students, parents and guardians, staff and community members now have access to a school safety app and website called “Anonymous Alerts.” If you’re concerned about a safety issue, you can communicate in encrypted, two-way messages with school administrators, and include screenshots, photos and video. Find out more about the safety reporting system, which can be accessed from our website and also comes as a free app for iOS and Android devices, and Chromebooks. The apps require an activation code – Henrico – while the web version of the system doesn’t require a code.
