Jill Rich of Brookland Middle

YAY JILL RICH! Jill Rich, a family and consumer sciences teacher at Brookland Middle School, is today’s “Yay of the Day” honoree. Superintendent Amy Cashwell honored her recently at the school.
YAYWORTHY: Nominator Ellie Kurth said: “Jill is one of the kindest, most caring, hardest-working teachers in the county. She always has a smile on her face. Jill cares deeply about her students; she not only teaches her content well, but teaches and shows her students love and compassion. She also shows this kindness to every staff member she encounters. Jill encourages all of us to be better and always manages to put a smile back on my face.
“Jill has made so many positive impacts on Brookland. One major example is creating the Care Closet. Using mainly her own resources, Jill has created a space for students to come, without fear of judgment, if they need hygiene or hair products. Our students know her room is a safe space where they can get what they need to go about their school day without the distraction of their basic needs not being met. Jill ensures that all students at BMS — not just her own — feel loved and welcome.”
Thank you for all you do, Jill Rich, to make a positive difference and move HCPS forward!
