YAY MARA BRENNAN! Mara Brennan, a fourth grade teacher at Maybeury Elementary School, is today’s “Yay of the Day” honoree. Superintendent Amy Cashwell honored her recently at the school.
YAYWORTHY: Nominator Tori Swartz said: “She is dedicated to her students and strives to meet them where they are and take them further. She puts her all into teaching, from learning a student’s native language in order to greet them when they arrive to school, to coming up with new, fun and inventive ways of teaching to reach students at every ability level. She is gifted in teaching students to read, can help any child learn how to read and instills a love of reading in them. Mrs. Brennan has students who have struggled with peer relationships this year and she has been able to work with them and helped them feel included. Through her time and efforts these students have made friendships and learned to work with one another.
“This year she has a student who only speaks Spanish and she takes the time to translate all plans and activities into Spanish, effectively teaching all subjects daily in two languages. She does this so her student feel included, important and can learn with their peers.”
Thank you for all you do, Mara Brennan, to make a positive difference and move HCPS forward!
