YAY EILEEN WAUGH! Eileen Waugh, a school social worker at Ruby Carver Elementary School, is today’s “Yay of the Day” honoree. Superintendent Amy Cashwell honored her recently at the school.
YAYWORTHY: Nominator Lizz Billings said: “Mrs. Waugh takes the time to genuinely get to know the children she works with. She makes them feel known, safe and seen, which gives kids a much-needed sense of confidence and connection.”
“Mrs. Waugh took the time to meet with my son one-on-one during the summer to truly get to know him. She heard me as a parent express concerns that an IEP team was making decisions about a child they didn’t know. She played with him and laughed with him and he felt safe, seen and valued by her. That one day she took the extra time out of her summer day meant the world to our family.
“She and my child don’t have a ton of daily interaction at school now, but she won a special place in his heart. He remembers her for special occasions, and makes sure she is also included. Mrs. Waugh oversees several schools, but her personal touch has made a positive impact on my child’s life, and we are thankful.”
Thank you for all you do, Eileen Waugh, to make a positive difference and move HCPS forward!
