Kwam Yam

YAY KWAN YAM! Kwan Yam, an HCPS bus driver, is today’s “Yay of the Day” honoree. Superintendent Amy Cashwell honored him recently.

YAYWORTHY: Nominator Melissa Howard said: “Mr. Yam drives Bus 64 and ensures that Echo Lake students start and end their day on a positive note. Mr. Yam greets the students by name each and every morning! He carries extra masks for those who may have forgotten. He shows genuine care and concern for the students.” Heather Powell said: Mr. Yam always has a smile. He learns the children’s family names and maintains a clean, safe, orderly-yet-fun school bus. He plays music for the kids and honors multiple holidays. He has been a trusted driver for my two children for seven years. Mr. Yam is an absolute treat to see every morning.”

“My son left a beloved ‘show and tell’ item on the bus — unlabeled of course. The day it was lost, there was a substitute driver and a substitute bus for the route. The following day, when Mr. Yam returned, we asked if any items had been reported found during his absence. Mr. Yam said no, but later, on his own time, he checked the substitute bus and Transportation Department offices and found the missing item. When Mr. Yam returned it, my son could not stop beaming. Thank you for taking the time and showing so much care and compassion for the kids you see each week.”

Thank you for all you do, Kwan Yam, to make a positive difference and move HCPS forward!
