YAY TRACY WILLIAMSON! Tracy Williamson, a third grade teacher at Lakeside Elementary School, is today’s “Yay of the Day” honoree. Superintendent Amy Cashwell honored her recently at the school.
YAYWORTHY: Nominator Colleen Wilhelm said: “She goes above and beyond. My daughter had her for third grade virtual learning last year. She takes time to know her students, what motivates them and how to connect with them. You can be a great, skilled educator but if you can’t connect to students, that doesn’t matter. She was always available to talk to us and Mac about her education and how she was feeling. It was a lot to juggle. This year she is keeping tabs on Mac as she sees her in the hall — that connection helps her thrive in fourth grade. My daughter invited Ms. Williamson to her outdoor Halloween party (with COVID-19 measures in place) and Mrs. W stopped by, since many of her third grade students are in Mac’s class this year. The kids loved seeing her…”
“My daughter was struggling with focus and attention, so Mrs. W carved out a time for virtual one-on-ones. It made a huge impact, as my daughter began being vested in her work.”
Thank you for all you do, Tracy Williamson, to make a positive difference and move HCPS forward!
