YAY KENT DOHRMAN! Kent Dohrman, a third grade teacher at Pinchbeck Elementary School, is today’s “Yay of the Day” honoree. Superintendent Amy Cashwell honored him recently at the school.
YAYWORTHY: Nominator Aryn Carlson said: “Mr. Dohrman is an amazing third grade teacher. He makes learning fun and enjoyable for the students. My son even thinks it’s pretty special that Mr. Dohrman lets the kids whisper during class time. My son used to think school was boring but this year is so different for him. He is enjoying class so much. Mr. Dohrman even has a reward system for the kids where they can earn coins for things like setting a good example, being a leader in the classroom or even helping a friend. The classroom environment that Mr. Dohrman has created is one where the kids can thrive and grow. Pinchbeck is lucky to have him and we’re thrilled he is our son’s teacher this year! “
“Mr. Dohrman has encouraged my third grader to write, which was something my son has struggled with in the past. My son is writing more often, writing better and enjoying the writing process. Mr. Dohrman understands that by allowing the kids some control over their work, the kids will enjoy it more. One example of this is when he allowed the kids to pick the topic for a newspaper article they were working on and my son wrote about flies! My son has not complained to me about writing once this year, which is incredible. My husband frequently says, ‘Mr. Dohrman is working his magic.'”
Thank you for all you do, Kent Dohrman, to make a positive difference and move HCPS forward!
