Yay of the Day awardee, Tiniko Johnson of Varina High School, receiving her swag bag.

YAY TINIKO JOHNSON! Tiniko Johnson, a business education teacher at Varina High School, is today’s “Yay of the Day” honoree — and not only that, she had 17 nominations. Superintendent Amy Cashwell honored her recently at the school.

YAYWORTHY: Here are some of the comments from her nominators: “She is a great role model and pushes, and encourages her student to put their all into their work.”

“She is a hard worker and she’s good at her job. She makes my day. When I need help, she helps me.”

“She’s a wonderful teacher, and will help you whenever you need it.”

“She’s always there. I’m thinking of a time when I was dealing with a loss and she helped me.”

“She’s super kind and understanding, and tries to work with the students’ schedules and communicate. She promotes a positive class environment.”

“She’s a loving and kind-hearted person.”

“She’s always a positive part of each student’s day. She interacts with the class effectively throughout the class, but not in a way that’s distracting or irritating. She tries her hardest to motivate her students and give them opportunities for success. One time stands out to me: she went out of her way to let me know that I am extremely capable of the things she assigns.”

Thank you for all you do, Tiniko Johnson, to make a positive difference and move HCPS forward!
