HCPS series to celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month
Henrico, Va., Sept. 17, 2021 — It’s Hispanic Heritage Month, and Henrico County Public Schools will host two virtual events as part of the observance. The school division’s 2021 “Hispanic/Latine(x) Heritage Series” will feature presentations on support and resources for local families, and innovation and diversity.
The events are free and are presented by HCPS’ Department of Equity, Diversity and Opportunity.
“Support and Resources for Local Latine Families”
- Sept. 22 from 6-7 p.m. (virtual event)
- Guest presenter will be Caroline Lugo, director of programs at Sacred Heart Center.
- This event is open to all.
“Scientists Like You: Innovation Depends on Diversity”
- Oct. 6 from 6-8 p.m. (virtual event)
- The moderator will be Jessica Agosta. Participants will be Catherine Hulshof, assistant professor in the VCU Department of Biology, and Natalie Rodriguez, a ninth grader at J.R. Tucker High School.
- This event is open to all, with a focus on students.
