YAY JESSICA CAPANO! Jessica Capano of Maude Trevvett Elementary School is one of today’s “Yay of the Day” honorees. Superintendent Amy Cashwell honored Jessica recently at Trevvett.
YAYWORTHY— Nominator Cindy Osborne said: “The difference that Jessica has made in the ‘feel’ of being at Trevvett is palpable since she started as an innovative learning coach last year. She helps all of the teachers come up with new materials and creative lessons, and organizes large school events that bring everyone together in celebrating Trevvett. Her contributions have made Trevvett a very special place to be! Plus, she’s always available for questions on technology, techniques and advice on teaching challenges.”
“Last year Jessica found a website that helped our teachers earn money for the school. The money was pooled and used to fund a free Halloween event. The students came to school one evening in their Halloween costumes and trick-or-treated to all of the classrooms. Teachers dressed up, gave out candy and small toys. A huge number of books were given away. Green-screen photos were taken in the office so students would have a picture of themselves in front of several Halloween backdrops. Games and crafts were set up in the cafeteria. It was a joy-filled community event. Children, parents and laughter filled the school, and everyone was excited to see all the costumes! Trevvett is a very diverse school and has many children with extra needs. Especially for the children who find school a challenging place to be, this made Trevvett an exciting place that was about connections as well as education. Kudos to Jessica!”
Thank you for all you do, Jessica, to make a positive difference and move HCPS forward!
