YAY AMANDA HAWTHORNE! Amanda Hawthorne of Crestview Elementary School is today’s “Yay of the Day” honoree. Superintendent Amy Cashwell honored Amanda recently at Crestview.

YAYWORTHY— Nominator Lindsey Beckham said: “She is amazing! Mrs. Hawthorne has gone above and beyond all year. She dropped off materials and activities each week we were at home. She plans specifically for my son’s needs and interests. For example, she knows he loves Pete the Cat and any Dr. Suess book, so she uses those themes to keep him engaged. Henry is an in-person student with her now and she sends updates and keeps everything fun. I feel so lucky that she is his kindergarten teacher!

“She makes my son a part of the class, whether virtual or in-person. He is nonverbal so it takes a bit more patience and planning to let him use his “voice” but she always gives him that time. She makes sure he does his show-and-tell and answers questions just like the other students. This means so much to me.”

Thank you for all you do, Amanda, to make a positive difference and move HCPS forward!
